Kevin Gallen sent a timely reminder of what he's capable of with a brace for the Reserves against Aldershot Town on Tuesday evening.

The Hoops skipper was back on song with a double on his comeback, as Rangers sealed a comfortable 4-0 victory at The Recreation Ground.

After bagging a sublime first half brace, Gallen - who has been sidelined since late November with a persistent hamstring injury - was substituted after 60 minutes and is now in contention for a place in the Hoops squad for the visit of Wolves to Loftus Road on Saturday afternoon.

Rangers' other goals in the comfortable win arrived courtesy of Shabazz Baidoo (68) and Ricky Sappleton (80).

"The result was of little significance to be honest, but it's still great to score four goals away from home and to keep a clean sheet,'' said Joe Gallen.

"The major positive was the appearance of Kevin. He looked sharp, took his goals well and came through unscathed.

"Also on the plus side, Shabazz was back amongst the goals. You could tell not scoring had been getting to him lately and he took his goal well.

"Ricky came off the bench and scored another good goal - he seems to find the back of the net every time he plays at the moment which is just fantastic at his age.''

Gallen also praised the performance of young goalkeeper Sean Thomas, commenting: "Sean's had a fantastic season and was great again on Tuesday evening.

"At 1-0 he made a superb save and from his resultant goal kick we were two goals to the good and that probably proved to be the decisive moment in the match.''
